"On May 6th 2017, I'm walking in Darkness Into Light Falcarragh...part of a global movement to raise awareness and funds for the prevention of suicide and self harm.
Unfortunately my family and I have suffered suicide in the past, so I would appreciate any small contribution to raise awareness. I'm doing this as a tribute to the most wonderful person I have ever met... my mother Teresa, who we tragically lost 4 years ago. Her death not only devastated our whole family, but a whole town in Falcarragh, Co.Donegal, Ireland, where she was loved by all.
Secondly my profession is a psychiatric nurse where I deal many mental illnesses including depression/suicide. In a way that has helped me deal with my own devastation and I'm lucky to work in a place where I consider many of my co-workers family.
The funds I raise will enable Pieta House to provide life-saving support to those living in the shadows....and support other organisations doing similar work around the world.
Won't you please support my efforts with a donation to Pieta House, every euro makes BIG a difference, and I'll try not to collapse before the end of it.
p.s. After the 5k at 4 in the morning, I will then be going to work in the psychiatric unit in Letterkenny at 7:45. Then during my 12 hour shift I'm taking 2 hours out to go to a football match of an u16s team I coach. I'll be home with my feet up at half 8 that evening. Simples!
